2 smoky quartz

This set of two smoky quartz crystals shines with exceptional quality – clear, with some minor internal structure, yet remarkable transparency. Both tips are fully undamaged. The crystals come from two different regions of the Swiss Alps: one from the Kleines Furkahorn near the Furka Pass, the other from the Göschener Alp. They show a slightly different coloring, and their outstanding quality makes them, together, two wonderful collector's pieces from the Swiss Alps.

The Story of This Crystal

Both crystals come from granite fissures in the Swiss Alps, at an altitude of 2,800 m above sea level – one from the Kleines Furkahorn, the other from the Göschener Alp. Larger crystals were also recovered from both fissures, but they didn't match the clarity of these two smaller pieces. They were found in summer, once the snow had melted back. Check out the linked Instagram video to see what a granite fissure like this looks like from the inside, where crystals like these are formed.
