2 smoky quartz points with chlorite

These two medium-sized smoky quartz crystals come from the same pocket, where they grew side by side over thousands of years. They have a beautiful shine, even though they aren't clear. The tips show a chlorite coating, which gives the two crystals a slightly greenish tint. The great thing about these crystals is that they stand nicely on their own without a base. An ideal decorative piece, or a great addition to your own collection.

The Story of This Crystal

We found this smoky quartz on our last outing. We discovered the pocket near a melting patch of ice, hidden beneath the scree. But the trained eye of the crystal hunter didn't miss the hidden pocket. Working under the steep rock face was dangerous, and we had to stop around midday due to falling rocks.
