Smoky quartz point

Pretty dark smoky quartz of incredibly good quality. Unfortunately the tip is slightly bent to one side, as the content of the fissure was compressed by large slabs of rock. On the back, the tip still shows a bit of matrix rock.

The Story of This Crystal

This smoky quartz was found in a small pocket in amphibolite rock. Amphibolite is a metamorphic rock similar to granite. Besides this smoky quartz, the pocket only contained a few crystal fragments and chlorite. No rope work was needed for this find, but the site was located on a very steep, exposed rock face.
