Nice smokey quartz with chlorite point

Light smoky quartz with a tip covered in chlorite, which gives the crystal a distinctive character. Some host rock is still attached on one side. It comes from a very large cleft in amphibolite. There were only a few crystals in it, but of good quality. The crystal stands beautifully on its own and looks best in natural light.

The Story of This Crystal

The cleft was right next to an ice field, and it was empty. A rockfall a few days or weeks earlier had cleared it out completely. The crystals were lying at our feet on the glacier, and we could simply collect them. Another rockfall a few days later would most likely have destroyed them or buried them under debris. In a way, we rescued them from natural erosion. Check out the linked Instagram video to see what else was in this cleft.
