long smoky quartz point

This smoky quartz has a beautiful shine and a slight internal structure. It shows off really well both in natural light and in a display case. The tip of this crystal is flawless. On the back, the crystal is fully crystallized, since it once detached from the rock ceiling.

The Story of This Crystal

We found this crystal at an altitude of 2800 m. It comes from a vertical fissure in amphibolite rock. We found the fissure near a small melting ice field, where it was hidden beneath the scree. But the crystal hunter's trained eye didn't miss the hidden fissure. Working beneath the steep rock face was dangerous and had to be called off around midday because of rockfall. This fissure has now most likely been buried again by a rockslide. Check out our Instagram profile for more insights.
