smoky quartz cluster

A smoky quartz cluster with multiple points and a beautiful luster. The cluster is not transparent, but it impresses with its light smoky quartz. Some of the host rock is still attached to the quartz, characterized by white adularia, and there are also deposits on the crystal. In a display cabinet or in natural light, this gem from the high Swiss Alps really shows off its beauty.

The Story of This Crystal

We found this cleft at 2,800 m above sea level. While climbing up along a steep ice field, we suddenly spotted the freshly opened cleft at eye level. All we really had to do was collect the smoky quartz crystals. Presumably, quite a bit had already fallen out of the cleft before we reached it, which makes us all the happier about this piece.
